Wedding Planning & Wedding Management

“What’s the difference between wedding planning and wedding management?”

The question above is the most frequently asked question I receive from clients. And if you’re reading this, I’m sure it’s a question you have as well. Depending on what type of bride or groom-to-be you are, one service is more beneficial to you than the other. To find out which service is best for you and your wedding planning journey, keep reading.

Wedding Planning

Full service wedding planning is best suited for the couple who wants has an amazing vision for their wedding day, but doesn’t have the time to plan it. For example, both individuals may work full-time jobs. Or they may have other life obligations that don’t allow for spending an extra 400 hours or 13 months to plan a wedding. That is where I come in.

When I am contracted to provide wedding planning services, typically the couple hasn’t completed many, if any, wedding planning tasks. A date, color scheme, theme, one to two vendors, or a venue may have been decided on, but a large portion of the planning process has not been completed. After the initial client meeting--where I learn about the couple’s love story, their likes & dislikes, and their overall vision for their wedding day--I begin working to make their wedding dream a reality.

Wedding Management

Wedding management is best suited for the couple that would like to have a hands-on experience in planning their special day. Typically, wedding management clients simply desire guidance as they complete the wedding planning process instead of having the planning being done for them.

Unlike Day of or Month of Coordination that can start anywhere from 6-8 weeks prior to the event date, wedding management services start from the day of booking. As my client's "fairy wed-mother" I provide them with services that allow me to give them expert advice during the wedding planning journey, yet allow them the confidence to know that they are on the right track.

What service is best?

I have found that full service wedding planning is best suited for individuals who have a broad wedding vision, complex wedding plans, a short engagement period (11 months or less), have never planned a large event before, or prefer a “hands off” approach to wedding planning. Wedding management is best suited for the couple that has a detailed wedding vision, a long engagement period (13+ months), an abundance of time to plan, or prefer a “hands on” approach to the wedding planning process.
